LIS 568 - The Start of a New Semester

LIS 568 - The Start of a New Semester

Week 1 (5/27-6/1)

by Kaitlyn Casper

As someone who has never had a blog before, this class is already really interesting! I'm going to be figuring everything out along the way, including how to run this blog and how to use the various technologies that I will be trying over the semester. I have never really considered myself to be super tech-savvy, but I am a quick learner and I know how to access and use tutorials on the Internet. The Internet really has made it SO easy to learn new things nowadays--a quick Google search about a problem or new software will yield a straightforward YouTube video, a How-To article, or chat forums that discuss any topic you could possibly imagine. I think that this class will be really valuable, and I intend to soak up as much information from it as possible!

Just to give you some more information about me:

My name is Katie and this summer semester will be my third semester as a School Librarianship student at UB! I've worked at one public library for almost 4 years now but I have been a Librarian Trainee at two public libraries for almost a year now. I have done some observation hours at school libraries, both elementary and secondary, but I have yet to actually work in a school or school library. Of course, I get a lot of experience facilitating public library programs, so I am pretty familiar with children's and teen programs in a public library setting.
When I'm not at work, I like to spend my free time crocheting, knitting, being outside, reading, and socializing with my partner and friends. I also love spending time with my cats! This year, and this summer especially, I am trying to spend more time doing those things than scrolling on my phone!

The information above is also posted on the class's discussion board. Good luck to everyone else in LIS 568 this summer!
